  • " The Shoeshine Boy" - NOW ON DVD!!
    A one-hour  television documentary chronicling how the murder of young shoeshine boy Emanuel Jaques changed a community and a city forever.

    This documentary was chosen as one of the four finalists for the prestigious Canadian Association of Broadcasters' 2007 Golden Ribbon Awards honouring excellence in private broadcasting

    Originally broadcasted by OMNI Television in the spring of 2006, The Shoeshine Boy made headlines and touched thousands of viewers who still remember Emanuel Jaques:

  • In Production (as of December 2006) : “Portuguese Joe The Forgotten Pioneer
    A one-hour television documentary that covers the amazing adventures of a long forgotten pioneer, as his ancestors retrace his journeys to discover how an illiterate fisherman from a tiny island in the middle of the Atlantic overcame danger, hardship and bigotry to play an important role in the birth of Vancouver and British Columbia in the late 1800’s.
    Due to air at OMNI Television in the fall of 2007.
  • Porto 2001 : On location in Portugal, a 90-minute special showcasing the City of Porto as it celebrated its status as a Capital of European Culture. A one-hour version was produced in VHS format for sale to the public.
  • Expo ‘98 A Dive Into the Future : A 90-minute special television program highlighting the last world fair of the twentieth century.This show was made available to the public in VHS format.

 EVENT TELEVISION SHOWS:

  • 50 th Anniversary of Portuguese Immigration to Canada : A one- hour special relating experiences of pioneer immigrants and coverage of the anniversary celebrations. Copy of the production was provided to the Canadian National Archives.
  • Macau in Transition: Live 90-minute show covering Macau’s return to Chinese rule. (Co-production with the Chinese Department at Omni Television).

 

 EDUCATIONAL SERIES:

  • ABC Show : Production of twenty-six (26) episodes of children’s programming segments for pre-schoolers and parents. This program was the first of its kind at Omni Television.
  • Your Health : A five-part health awareness series in association with The Doctors Hospital.

 TRAVEL SPECIALS:

  • Omni / Bionic Tours Caribbean Cruise Special : Production of a one-hour annual cruise special for six consecutive years ; producer hosted 2 of these shows as well.
  • Golf the Azores : a 10-minute promotional video shot in the Azores for the tourism industry.

 

 TELEVISION SHOWS:

  • LIVE NEWS - Daily half-hour show featuring international, national, local and community news and events.
  • CURRENT AFFAIRS - Actualidades and Hora-H : Two weekly television shows featuring current issues and interviews ; producer was also co-host and host for a number of years over a 15 - year period.
  • ENTERTAINMENT - Lamire: A weekly show featuring stories , interviews and music videos for the young set.
  • LIFESTYLE - Canada Contacto : A weekly half-hour show featuring the lives of Portuguese-Canadians across Canada airing around the world through Portuguese State Television (RTP International).
 “PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS “
  • In 2006, Vista-Global produced three Public Service Announcements for the Luso-Canadian National Congress to create awareness about the organization and one Public Service Announcement for the Azores House of Ontario as part of a major on-going fundraising campaign to build a cultural centre, all to be broadcasted in Canada and internationally.

  • On-going production of Portuguese language re-editing for Omni Television of CBC series “Canada – A People’s History.”
  • Production of Portuguese language editing version of one-hour documentary “Fundamental Freedoms”.
